April Newsletter

Winter is officially in the rearview mirror - sort of.

The French have a saying: "En avril, ne te découvre pas d'un fil," which translates to "In April, don’t take off a single thread." In other words, don’t even think about putting away that winter coat just yet!

No matter the forecast, we have a full lineup of events to keep you engaged this month.

Pétanque at Pullen Park
Carolina Pétanque is opening new courts at Pullen Park, and you are invited to join the inauguration on April 2nd from 4 - 7 PM. Enjoy free food, games, and the opportunity to connect with fellow pétanque enthusiasts.  Meet in the picnic shelter area.

Our big event this month? A Piano and Cello Recital featuring local musicians Rowena Mariano and Jake Wenger on April 13th, 2–3:30 PM. Come for the stunning performances, stay for the post-concert wine and appetizers. Because nothing pairs better with classical music than good food and great company. $35/person, $45 at the door.

Art lovers, mark your calendars! On April 24th, docent Diane Beckman will guide us through The Time Is Always Now: Artists Reframe the Black Figure. This special exhibition explores the depth, joy, and complexity of Black life while rethinking traditional artistic narratives. The tour itself is free. Tickets must be purchased from the North Carolina Museum of Art.

Host Families Needed for Culinary Students
Our partner, Cary Sister City, is seeking host families for culinary students from Le Touquet, France, who will be visiting from April 21 to May 16. If you live in the Cary/Raleigh area and have an extra bedroom to offer, please reach out to Cary Sister Cities.

Let’s make this April one to remember - preferably for reasons other than allergy meds or an April Fool’s prank gone wrong!
